4/19/16: Twelve Symbols

Twelve Symbols

Praise the Lord saints!

Let’s take a look… at twelve symbols that are significant in the Bible.

The first is Jesus Christ. What better way to start out than with the personification of the

word.

John 1:1 – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was

God.

In Genesis 1:1, this phrase is used. It is an absolute beginning of the time, space, and

material universe. The Greek word is logos, which usually emphasizes the message of a

spoken word. The point John was making is that the key role for Jesus, the second person

of the Trinity has always been communication. The Son is the Spoken Word. The living

expression of all that God wanted to tell us about Himself. John also wanted the reader to

know that Jesus is both identical to the God of the Old Testament and yet distinct from Him.

Jesus the Messiah was fully God, even in His incarnation when He emptied Himself. He did

not stop being deity, but took on a genuine human nature/ body and voluntarily came to earth

to show us by example how to get back to God.
