9/15/15: How to Live Your New Life

How to Live Your New Life

You have just taken the first step on the most exciting journey of your life. Your journey began when you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. In that moment, you were saved. You will continue to walk out your Christianity for the rest of your life … step-by-step, day-by-day. What does all this mean? It means that your life will be different from now on.

II Corinthians 5:17 says, “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; all things are become new.” How do you live this new life you’ve just begun? The most important thing you need to do is: GET A RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST AS THE SOURCE OF YOUR LIFE.

The most important thing you need to know in life is to have a relationship with Jesus Christ as the source of your life. I can tell you from personal experience, my friend, that when the journey of life gets long and the way gets rough, you won’t make it unless you know who your source is and who you are in Christ. What do I mean by “source”? I do mean Jesus – the One who gives you life, health and prosperity. He helps you grow and thrive so your life will be productive and prosperous. The most important thing in your life is to know who God is and who you are in Him. If you know Jesus as your source, you have a firm foundation to stand on every day of your life.

There are three main ways:

  1. Get a Bible and begin reading it! You may not own a Bible now, but you need to get one and begin reading it EVERY DAY. Your spirit needs food in the same way your body needs food, and you get spiritual food from the Word of God, the Bible. The Bible is the Holy Inspired Word of God and you are not going to make it very far on your journey without it. Oh, you might get along for a while, but you will never have the abundant life that Jesus came to give you without getting into the Word of God. Now, I don’t mean once a week or once a month or just when you are in need. I am talking about EVERY DAY of your life for the rest of your life. READ YOUR BIBLE. Let the Word of God get down inside you every day. By doing this you will begin to feel God speaking to your heart. You’ll sense His direction and leading in your life.

  1. Begin to pray every day! You say to me, “I don’t know how to pray. I don’t know what to say to God.” Simply talk to God out of your heart. Tell Him how you feel. Tell Him what you are going through and how much you love Him. Thank Him for sending Jesus to the cross and for raising Him from the dead. Thank Him for sending the Holy Spirit to you. Your prayers are never in vain. YOUR PRAYERS GET THROUGH TO GOD. Once you have believed on Jesus as your Savior, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in you as a gift from God. He is in you and He is a person. He is speaking and praying to God on your behalf 24 hours a day. You will be able to tell God exactly how you feel and what you want Him to know and you will receive God’s message back to you.

  1. Go back to church! You may not have a regular church home. You may not be a ‘churchgoer’. You may have never gone to church, but you NEED to go to church. The Bible says that we should “not forsake the assembling of ourselves together” (Hebrews 10:25); GO BACK TO CHURCH. Find a church that you enjoy attending. Look for a Pastor who preaches and teaches the Bible and who brings God’s healing power to the people as Jesus did (Acts 10:38). Find one who will pray for you and your family spiritually, physically and financially. Find a church that really believes in miracles, where people are getting saved and praying to be healed by the power of God. Go to church where you feel the spirit of God when you walk in the door.
