3/1/16: Biblical Healing for Rejection

Biblical Healing for Rejection

How can we overcome rejection?  We need to resist any thoughts, words, or actions that are not from God.  By faith, we can accept God’s word as true and begin healing.

  1. Accept that God made you beautiful
  2. Psalm 139:14 – ‘I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.’ God knew us before we were formed. Rejection has no place in our hearts … accept God’s truth; we are all here for a special purpose.
  3. Jeremiah 29:11 – ‘For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ Stay focused in God’s word and in prayer. There is no task or no mountain too big for you or I if we give our lives to Jesus.
  4. Accept the truth that God does not have favorites
  5. Romans 2:11 – ‘For God does not show favoritism’ God knows how to love all of us as if there was only one of us. God looks at our hearts, he will never reject us.
  6. 1 Samuel 16:7 – ‘For the Lord sees not as man sees; man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.
  7. Accept the truth that God can heal your past hurts
  8. Psalm 147:3 – ‘He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds’ To many adults carry around all the past hurts of their childhood. We cannot carry these burdens and walk in Jesus’ light.
  9. In spiritual surgery –God heals us through the Holy Spirit who removes any lingering words or feelings of rejection. Our scars and memories can be healed.
  10. Accept the truth that God can use your hurts to help others
  11. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 – ‘Therefore encourage one another and build each other up’ … God does not heal us just for us – now we are equipped to help hurting people to be healed also. When we don’t share how God has healed us many people can stay stuck in their hurts and not find God. Our faith is alive when our Gifts of the Spirit are used to build the Kingdom.
  12. The beauty, peace, and love of God carries no limits in courageous believers who reject the lies of rejection and embrace the truth of Jesus Christ!

Be Careful How You Listen

Be Careful How You Listen.

By: Pastor Linda A. Skeen

God reminded me of a parable. Many people have read it and read it and read it…and still don’t see themselves in it. They see “seeds” because this is the parable of the sower.

Please turn with me to Luke 8:1.

(READ THIS CHAPTER to verse 18)

Luke is talking about you, me and the Word of God.

Point 1: What are you “receiving” when you read the bible? (I mean what do you “get out” of it?)

Let me ask you a bold question and be careful how you listen to my question. *Has the bible become “blank” words to you, with (what feels like) no life in them?

What is your motive to read? Could it be that you’re rushing through it just to maintain some sort of peace of mind that you’ve read it? In this case: Verse 12 talks about you.

The devil is coming against you to take away the Word from your heart. Just reading it doesn’t do anything for you. You’ve got to pray about what you’re reading; before, during and after! Care about what you’re reading! See how it applies to you or others you care about. (Elaborate)
TAKE the time! Don’t walk along the path…walk ON the path! Get it into your heart and not just your head!

Point 2: I believe a lot of the “so called” Christian world is in danger of receiving their seed on the rock. (verse 13)

Praise and Worship can make EVERYONE feel good, but how many know that just singing and dancing won’t get you through a bought with Cancer or a bank account with a zero balance at the age of 60, or a ten-year sentence in prison for something you didn’t do!

You need MORE to make it through things of that magnitude!

You can’t say you have roots just to think that you have them.

Point 3: What about the seed among the thorns? (verse 14)

Well, let me ask you this…Is your mind so cluttered with all of your plans. Scheduling your meetings. Making your phone calls that you’re having trouble grasping anything NEW out of the Word of God. Don’t be quick to say, “no” that’s not me.

(The bible says to BE CAREFUL HOW YOU LISTEN to this.)

Examine yourself. It’s between YOU and the LORD and no one else.

Being “busy”…whether it’s for you and your house or for the Lord and His…is still just that… being “busy.” And if you stay in that frame of mind and don’t apply what you read, the bible says that the Word in you will not mature because there’s no room for God.

I had to throw this is my notes because the Lord brought it to my remembrance while preparing for tonight.

I have a mustache story for you…

My dad had one of those big, bushy mustaches from the early 70’s and I used to love it! He had the side-burns like Elvis to match. I can’t tell you how much I loved that mustache! He would make me laugh by tickling my face with it. He’d make funny faces with it and just
being silly. I enjoyed my early childhood in Emporia and that mustache represented it ALL!

The dancing to the loud jukebox with the windows at home open wide. The hours my brother and I spent building model forts out of the Sonic Drive In signs. Running through the rain in my swimming suit with good friends. Getting my back scratched by my mom until she fell asleep. (and then I’d move) It was a ‘moment in time’ and that mustache was a collection of that time.

Then, one day there was talk about him shaving it but for some reason…I didn’t think it would happen. The next thing I knew…my dad had the whitest upper lip that I have ever seen! I thought he would grow it back, but he didn’t.

When I asked him why he did it…he said, “People in business don’t respect a guy with a mustache. Bankers won’t take them seriously and that could cost us a lot of money.” He said that it was time to grow up.

I was so sad. I wanted to hold on to that last bit of my childhood through his mustache…but we both had to let go to make room for growth.

What am I saying? I’m saying that if you don’t “consider carefully how you listen” to the Word of God (*verse 18) and let go of your childish ways of thinking…whatever you THINK you have will be taken from you.

Don’t let that happen. Make up your mind tonight to plant the Word of God in good soil. Plant it with a noble and good heart. Retain what you hear and persevere.

People will be ‘saved’ because of your perseverance! It’s the Word of God!!!

The “I AM” Statements #5

I AM Statement #5

I am the Resurrection and the Life

The fifth great “I AM” statement comes from John 11:25; Jesus said unto her “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies. “

When Christ made this statement to Martha, it gave her a completely new outlook on the resurrection. She knew well of the resurrection “on the last day” but what about trusting daily in the one who can raise the dead. It is said you must be born twice and die once to experience the resurrecting power of the Messiah and outside of Him there is no resurrection to the eternal life promised by the Father.

So set no barriers or restrictions of unbelief about being given life at any time from the one who is omnipotent and is the way, truth and the life. He can do it and wants to do it for those who believe on him.

2/9/16: “Jesus Wept”

“Jesus Wept”

 John 11:35

‘Jesus wept’, is the shortest verse in the King James Bible.  It is when Jesus was at the tomb of Lazarus that the entire scene was taking place.  Let us look at some of the verses before and after:

John 11:32-39

“Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.  When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled.  And said,

Where have you laid him?

They said unto him, Lord, come and see.  Jesus wept.  Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!  And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?  Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave.  It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.  Jesus said, Take ye away the stone.  Martha, the sister of him who was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he had been dead four days.”

Jesus Christ was not only the son of God, but he also came to us as a man.  Jesus had feelings, emotions, just like you, and I do.  For you see, Jesus already knew that Lazarus was dead when He arrived.  Jesus wept because of the lack of faith and trust in the people around Him.

`Faith’ knows God can and ‘trust’ knows that God will.  Why do you think Christ was groaning in His spirit and that He was troubled?  Because He knew and could sense that, everyone around Him had issues with faith and trust.  I mean after all, Lazarus had been dead for four days, right?  Rotting flesh and decay had already been set into motion when the heart of Lazarus stopped beating and he was buried and left for dead.

James 2:20 says that, “But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?” Why do you think, in John 11:39, Jesus told them to take away the stone?  Faith, my brothers, and sisters in Christ!  If you also notice, that at the end of John 11:39, Martha started to slightly argue with Jesus and present the argument that why taking away the stone was a bad idea.

Excuses, arguments, and suggestions all come from one root cause, rebellion.  Using the power of suggestion, Eve was fooled by the serpent in the garden.  Let’s examine for a moment the conversation that took place between Satan and Eve in Genesis:

Genesis 3:1-5

“Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made.  And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?  And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.  And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”

Did you HEAR how he did that?  Through the power of suggestion, Satan convinced Eve to eat the fruit God had told both Adam and Eve not to eat.  Just like at the end of John 11:39, when Martha offered the suggestion to Jesus about why taking the stone away from the tomb of Lazarus was a bad idea.  Now… you realize why, “Jesus Wept.”

Don’t you think that Jesus weeps every time a sheep, knowing the truth, from the flock goes astray?  Usually for something like that to happen, there has to be a heart that has waxed cold through disbelief and/or doubt, a let down from a person and/or a lack of a prayer life and a word life, or even a combination of any of those.

Just like Eve and Martha, the power of suggestion in the society we live in is running amok; either through: TV Commercials, or misguided people, false profits and teachings even through our friends and family.  Satan will use whatever tool that is knowingly or unknowingly willing to try to strike at you.  You must be ready for an attack at all times through prayer, word, fasting, supplication, and putting on the full ‘Armor of God’ as like in this example straight from the Word of God:

Ephesians 6:10-18

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.  Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness.  And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”

Saints, above all else, rejoice and be thankful that no matter how far away you stray, or how far down you go, that we serve a God that nothing is impossible and has no limits!  Trust me saints, God has had about enough of His Son weeping for us!  The trumpet is getting

John 3:16

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him SHOULD not perish, but have everlasting life.” Become the church that God wants you become.  Loving, caring, nurturing, birthing new spirits into the body of Christ daily.  Look after the sheep and do not let them go astray.  Put on the full armor of God and have ‘faith’ AND ‘trust’ and shout from the rooftops what the Lord has done for you!  I leave you with a final thought:

Romans 12:1-2

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

2/2/16: “Conditions for New Spiritual Birth”

“Conditions for New Spiritual Birth”

Now, everyone knows that when two people, a man and a woman, mutually come together as one unified flesh, it is called marriage. And in just about all cases of marriage between a man and a woman usually directly after the marriage, a brand new life is born into the world. It is no different as when a person accepts the truth and asks Jesus Christ to come into their heart as Lord and Savior. It is a mutual agreement between two people to be unified as one. This is why Jesus Christ is called the, ’Groom’, and we are called the, ‘Bride’. This mutual unification brings about the birth of a new spirit.

Just as the saved bringing the unknowingly lost into a house of worship, can create a new birth. They may listen, but they are really watching how we act towards one another. Through our actions alone, we can help an individual receive the truth. Thus, being willing vessels, helping to create the correct environment for the breeding ground of the greatest miracle of all, salvation.

Acts 2:42-47 – They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone

That reminds me of a certain Rich Young Ruler. <Matthew 19:16-22 – And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And He said unto him, why callest me good? There is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. He saith unto Him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honor they father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. The young man saith unto Him, all these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in Heaven: and come and follow me. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.>

Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. <Hebrews 10:23-25 – Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.> They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

The Christian life begins and continues with an acceptance that God’s truth has been revealed to us. We will never have a sound, effective and militant church until we first have a believing church. A true church is a family over which the Heavenly Father presides and in the midst of which Christ abides (Habitation vs. Visitation): Matthew 18:19-20 – “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in Heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Without a great love between Christ and His church, no children can be brought forth. A strong, healthy spiritual condition must prevail in order for the bride of Christ, the Church, to bring forth healthy children. Christ will never permit children to be born of a spiritually weak, nearly starved church. This would result in stillbirth or weak offspring.

Galatians 4:21-31 – For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. Be he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from Mount Sinai, which gendered to bondage, which is Agar. For this Agar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and answered to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. But Jerusalem which is above is free <this is the church, the New Jerusalem established under the Gospel, the new covenant, by Christ>, which is the mother of us all <the church is the mother of saints>. For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath a husband. Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now. Nevertheless, what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman. So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, Conditions for New Spiritual Birth In final thought, why be of bondage to the world? You were not born to be in bondage to the world, but you were born to be free in Jesus Christ! Give birth to a new spirit within you by accepting the freedom of Jesus Christ as your Lord and

Genesis 9:7 – And you, be fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.

1/27/16: Faith* Hope* Love

Faith* Hope* Love

  • I Corinthians 13:13 – So now faith, hope and love abide, these three, but the greatest of these is love. Our faith in God is God and our hope in Jesus is Jesus leads us to God’s commandment to love.  A great undertaking is to love God, ourselves and each other.  One could not have God without Jesus or Jesus without God.
  • Hebrews 11:1 – Now Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. God is faith – belief that it is going to happen. Firm belief in something.  We will see him.  Jesus is our hope – what I want to happen.  That substance is made (pieces and parts of)

So now as a parable – Salvation for all my family.  My faith in God believes my family will be saved.  My hope is that my family will be saved.  Hope and faith are like two pieces of a puzzle or two links on a chain.  “Together they bridge the gap between the life we have and the life we desire.”  Between what we have “right now” and to what we want for tomorrow!

  • I Thessalonians 1:3 – Remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God our Father. Keep your faith and hope strong, read your word, and pray with passion every day.  Have faith in your dreams, hopes, desires, and your capabilities.  Keep your highest hope in Jesus, the son of God.
  • Why choose? Why stay with God our faith and Jesus our hope?
  1. God nor Jesus will never let us down!
  2. God will never leave nor forsake you
  3. Together they love you now and forever
  4. With God everything is possible
  • 1 Peter 1:21 – Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and give him glory, that your faith and hope might be in God! Amen

1/19/16: “Angels”

ANGELS

– There is a massive amount of information in Scripture about angels.

Angels are not human – they have glorified bodies. They have thoughts and emotions like we do, but their purpose is different. They were created only to be servants of God. We are as Christ – sons, not servants (Hebrews 8:1-8).

I Corinthians 6:3 says we will judge angels. Hebrews 2:5 says the angels have not been given dominion over the earth, but we have. Hebrews 2:7 refers to Christ or Man as having been made lower than angels; meaning on earth, not heaven and not less than. Verse 9 – for the exclusive purpose of dieing for humanity. Verse 16 – He, we, took on a greater purpose than angels.

Angels are spirit beings. They have choice, but their choices are limited to the spirit world, good or evil. God made us with not only choice, but with a conscience and a will to do as we please in this world. That also affects the spirit world, because we are both flesh and spirit – a body of flesh housing a body of spirit. I Peter 1:12 refers to angels desiring to be like us.

With that being said, an angel’s view or thought of God is not like ours. They, whether heavenly or evil, do what they do in robotic fashion; no emotion. They praise and worship tied to service. We praise and worship with a heart of thanksgiving. They, whether good or evil, cover the entire earth to help or destroy Man (Hebrews 13:2). Demons are fallen angels – Jude 6.

With that being said, how do we suffer in body in hell even though we are dead? There is no such thing as ghosts. No one is floating around in the air. All have a body, whether flesh or spirit. The spirit body is called a glorified body (I Corinthians 15:39-40). So, once we are dead, we put off the body of flesh and become only a body of spirit – but still a body.

Read now I Corinthians 15:41-49; it simply means those in heaven will enjoy all the benefits of heaven in a physical way. Those in hell will be in great pain in a physical way. Why? Because we are still body, but in a body that was meant to live forever, but now in heaven or in hell (Revelation 20:12-15).

I AM Statement #4

Staying in the book of John, I AM statement #4 comes from John 10:11,14. Jesus says, “I am

In contrast to the hired hand in verse 12 Jesus, the “good shepherd” would lay down his life

4 forms of Love –

Storage …  kinship or familiarity

Philia … friendship – This love represents “brotherly love”. This love can be experienced by believers and non-believers.

Eros … sexual and/or romantic desire

Agape … self-emptying or divine love   – This love represents God’s love for us. It is a non-partial, sacrificial love best shown by God’s provision for our rebellion. This love requires a relationship with God through Jesus Christ since the non-regenerated soul (unbeliever) is unable to love unconditionally.

               ∙

4 Important Characteristics of Love –

Mature love is union under the condition of preserving one’s integrity, one’s individuality.

There’s a difference between superficial love and mature love. Mature love does not lose itself in another person, but rather fuses with another person while still maintaining a sense of individuality.

Love is the active concern for the life and the growth of that which we love

If an individual is able to love productively, he loves himself too; if he can only love others, he cannot love at all.

To love somebody is not just a strong feeling—it is a decision, it is a judgment, it is a promise

Wikipedia defines Love as –

Love is a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes that ranges from interpersonal affection (“I love my mother”) to pleasure (“I loved that meal”). It can refer to an emotion of a strong attraction and personal attachment.

It can also be a virtue representing human kindness, compassion, and affection—”the unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another”.

It may also describe compassionate and affectionate actions towards other humans, one’s self or animals.

Love in its various forms acts as a major facilitator of interpersonal relationships and, owing to its central psychological importance, is one of the most common themes in the creative arts.

Love may be understood as a function to keep human beings together against menaces and to facilitate the continuation of the species.

Impersonal love refers to love between human beings. It is a much more potent sentiment than a simple liking for another.

Unrequited love refers to those feelings of love that are not reciprocated.

               ∙

Psychological basis of Love –

Psychology depicts love as a cognitive and social phenomenon. Psychologist Robert Sternberg formulated a triangular theory of love and argued that love has three different components:

∙Intimacy is a form in which two people share confidences and various details of their personal lives, and is usually shown in friendships and romantic love affairs

Commitment is the expectation that the relationship is permanent

Passion is sexual attraction and passion. Passionate love is shown in infatuation as well as romantic love.

               ∙

Christian Quotes explaining Love –

“Christianity is a love relationship between a child of God and his Maker through the Son Jesus Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit.” ~ Adrian Rogers

Christ’s Love Creates Unity In the Midst of Diversity (Author Unknown)

               ∙

My personal definition of Love –

Love is not just an emotion, it’s a part of your character. Love goes hand in hand with faith, hope and integrity because they too are a part of your character. Love is a two way street whether you are talking about a relationship with a parent, friend or significant other. You have to work at love in order to receive the complete manifestation of its power. When we first love someone it’s more of an infatuation, a super like of them. That feeling, with some work, some faith and some hope will begin to evolve into an emotion that embraces every fiber of your being. If we don’t work to create an all powering love then the relationship you are trying to have will not last.

The same is true with your relationship with Jesus. When you first accept him you have a spiritual high but if you don’t get to know him and talk to him (prayer and word) and grow that love then the relationship will perish.

If you have a true relationship with Jesus and continue to grow that love with him then you are an open vessel that will shine for him and allow others to see how good God is.

(Make it your goal to have a deep, intimate relationship with God. Let Him into every area of your life. If you constantly look to other people for answers and validation, pray about this and ask the Lord to help you stop doing that and instead look to Him; 1 Thessalonians 2:4)

■  1 Thessalonians 2:4

(As we live to please God, He promises to bless our lives and make us prosper. When you decide to serve God with your whole heart and make Him first in your life, your soul will prosper and your joy and peace will increase. Remember to lean on Him more than anything else, and tell Him, “God, I want to do this, but I can’t do it without You.” He doesn’t expect you to live for Him in your own strength or ability, and He understands when you make mistakes.)

—Explanation out of “The Student Bible”

In the original Hebrew “in all your ways acknowledge him” is more literally “in all your ways know him”. Nodding in Gods direction is not enough.

You must know him by living closely with him, relating to him personally in every aspect of your life.

  1. Personal Explanation what “God First” means

(My first thought of the day, First true love, First trusted friend)

God is the beginning of everything – He is the beginning of the world and all the living creatures on it

and

He is the beginning of me. I am created in His image and should strive to act like Him in all my daily activities. I should begin each day putting God first in my conversation with Him (Prayer) and in my studies so I can hear from Him.

***He is my direction for my feet and words for my lips IF I keep Him first.

***He is wings for my shelter (Psalm 91:4) and a shield for my battles (Armor of God) IF I keep Him first.

We as humans are Nothing IF God is not First!
